Great Things to Come

If you've been watching this space, you may have thought that things have been kind of quiet in SCAR Derbyland -- however, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Over the holidays, we did take a break.  But lots has been happening behind the scenes, which will make for a thrilling upcoming season.

These events include:
  • A whole new slate of officers took their seats on the Board of Directors for SCAR and started making plans to make this the best season yet.
  • Mark Hoffman started coaching the league as the new Head Coach, replacing Rebekah Garber-Wagner.
  • A batch of fresh meat passed their assessments and became League members.  At the same time, several older skaters passed additional assessments, qualifying them to play at higher levels.  More on that later -- we'll be announcing promotions as they occur.
  • The slate of events for next year was more or less set.  You'll notice events listings and links in the left sidebar.  As you can see, we have an exciting and challenging schedule against a variety of teams from New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Anyway, there's actually so much stuff happening at the moment that I'm sure some things are being neglected, but we just wanted to let you know how busy we've been and how excited we are to get started on SCAR's second season.  Watch this space for more information.

SCAR Skaters Rule the Keystone All-Stars

Congratulations to twin wonders Sounds like Magic and Hootie's Bootie for representing SCAR on the Keystone All-Stars teams.

Magic was named named captain of the Keystone All-Stars Team

Said the Examiner of Magic:

Sounds Like Magic was key in the development of the league in the upcoming months. She has always been a huge help in training other skaters the basics, and when it comes to game play, she is S.C.A.R.’s ringer with the star.

Meanwhile, Hootie's Bootie made the Keystone All-Stars Nemesis Team.

From the Examiner:

Hootie’s Bootie (State College Area Rollers) – This speed skater is the sister of Keystone All Star Sounds Like Magic. Though from a small league, she has been able to tune her juking skills and has become a top jammer for her team in a short amount of time. If there is a small gap in a wall she will break through. If anyone can counter Magic, it’s Hootie’s Bootie.
